Fatal Parking Lot Beating Lands Long Island Man Manslaughter Charge: Suffolk Police

A Babylon man is accused of fatally beating another man during a violent altercation in a Bay Shore parking lot, Suffolk County police announced Friday, Feb. 28.

James Rogers, 66, struck Mark Iacono, 65, multiple times in the parking lot at 107 East Main St. around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, investigators said.

Iacono, a Patchogue resident, was rushed to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

Rogers remained at the scene and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Following an investigation, Rogers was charged with manslaughter in the first degree. He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.
